About Us

Joe Griffin Gear and Machine was founded in 1967 by Joe Griffin and was an offshoot of the family's foundry business. The company's original focus was gearing and machine parts for all industries. As the company has grown, we have changed our targeted markets to loose gearing, gearbox repairs, and gear related parts. This resulted in the company name being changed to Griffin Gear Inc to more closely align with our core markets. Griffin Gear offers all types of services including a newly designed gearbox manufacturing facility. The company has gone through a number of expansions resulting in our current facility of over 100,000 square feet of manufacturing space. Plans for new expansion are expected as we continue to grow to meet our customer's requirements.

In 2004 an ESOP was created and a majority of the company was given to the employees. The Griffin family is still well entrenched with the business as it grows into the 21st century.

As members of the American Gear Manufacturers Association, Griffin Gear has stayed active in the governing body of this standards organization. Joe Griffin Jr. is a trustee for the AGMA Foundation and the Company has representatives active in the technical committees as well as the business communities. The concept to start a small business council for the AGMA began with Griffin Gear and remains one of the associations most active groups.
